Stay in the chicken coop
A night beyond the usual definition of hospitality.
Discover the story
THE FARM’S MEMORY
When Grandmother Panoraia fed the chickens, she could not have imagined where this little yard would one day lead.
Back then, the two small utility rooms and the chicken coop were simply part of daily life: a place for tools, animal feed, bedding on the floor and the familiar scent of the farm. No furniture, no proper beds, no luxuries—not even a bathroom.
And yet, what no one would have called a holiday became a dream for some. People travel from the other side of the world to spend a night among hens, roosters, feathers and droppings—to let the sounds and scents remind them how close to the earth life can be.
Then they leave and write to tell us they experienced something unique. Perhaps because this experience was never constructed to look like a dream. It is real—and that is what makes it a dream.
THE STORY BEGINS HERE
There is another way to experience Paliopyrgos without staying in the stone house: spend the night in the small utility rooms beside the chicken coop. Here, conventional comfort gives way to closeness—the sounds, scents and real rhythm of the farm. This is not standard accommodation, but a simple, immersive rural experience for those who deliberately choose to be within nature.
Do not expect a hotel room. Expect a small door to open onto a world that was not made for you—and may stay with you precisely for that reason.
01 / The little house
Two rooms, simple bedding, another measure of life.
The little house has two rooms and is used mainly to store tools and feed for the hens, roosters and rabbits. It is not transformed into a luxury suite; it remains a utility space on a working farm.
Overnight stays are simple, as they once were: mattresses and bedding on the floor, without curated comforts. The heart of the experience is being inside the everyday life of the coop—not looking at it from outside.
02 / The coop’s residents
No one lowers their voice because you have arrived.
The hens, roosters and rabbits carry on as usual. You hear their clucks and calls, see feathers drift through the light and encounter traces of a life that is neither cleaned up nor staged for visitors.
There is the unmistakable scent of the coop, straw, feathers and, here and there, droppings. If the moment and season allow, you may gather eggs while they are still warm. Nature promises no ceremony; it offers its truth.
Somewhere between the first crow and the light slipping into the coop, the night remembers what it was like to live close to the earth.

03 / First light
The alarm here has wings and a mind of its own.
Before dawn has fully broken, the rooster announces the day. There is no snooze button or soundproof window to mute him. There is the sunrise, the animals beginning to move and the air changing as the earth warms.
For those who love the outdoors, this closeness becomes the rare luxury: not watching the farm from a distance, but hearing its night and morning from within.
04 / No walls between you
Nature has no corridor. It has a path.
There is no bathroom or toilet in the little house. Guests step outside to use the facilities, and an outdoor hose is used for a simple shower. This is a fundamental condition of the stay, not a detail to discover after arrival.
This option suits people who embrace simplicity and can stay without the usual amenities. Before making arrangements, we discuss the practical conditions, season, availability and everything you need to make an informed choice.
